TOURISM & HOSPITALITY · BY TIMO

Is your website ready for direct booking ads?

Before paying for more visitors, make sure a potential guest can confidently complete the booking.

Follow the journey on a phone.

Open the property page, choose real dates, check availability and reach the final booking step. Look for confusing price changes, missing room details, language switches and unnecessary account requirements. Campaign quality cannot compensate for a journey guests cannot finish.

Give guests the information they need.

Show location, photos, included facilities, cancellation terms and payment information clearly. If the property is unfamiliar to international guests, explain transfers and access as well. The page should answer the questions that otherwise send someone back to a booking marketplace.

Confirm what can be measured.

If the booking engine runs on another domain, check its tracking options. A click on “Book” is useful information, but it is not a completed reservation. Document the difference and avoid optimising as if those actions have equal value.

Compare the full economics.

Direct does not mean free. Include ad spend and management costs when calculating acquisition cost, and consider booking value, cancellations and repeat stays. Direct advertising is one part of a distribution mix, not an automatic replacement for every other channel.

Every business has different economics. Use these questions to inform a focused plan, then judge it against your own results.
